The single best game for a floor of people who met four days ago. The move-in edition rule: at least one statement has to be about the last week. It surfaces the good stories immediately, and the liars reveal themselves as the people to watch out for all semester.
8. Fingers (Chandelier's little sibling)
Everyone puts a finger on the rim of the center cup, you count down, and each person guesses how many fingers will still be on it. Right guess and you are out of the game, in a good way. It is fast, needs zero setup, and works at any volume level, which matters in a dorm.
9. The Bet Board
Not a game so much as a pregame institution. Before you leave, everyone writes one prediction about the night on the board: who talks to a stranger first, who is home by one, who ends up holding someone's phone. Settle up tomorrow at breakfast. It costs nothing and gives the whole night a running subplot.
10. Assassin, week-long
The long game. Everyone draws a target, eliminations happen by handing your target an object they accept, and the last one standing wins whatever the pot is. Start it at the pregame, and for the rest of the week every hallway interaction on your floor is charged. The best rush-week bonding tool that has ever existed.
